ANDRAGOGICAL PERSPECTIVE ON QUALITY OF LIFE IN OLD AGE

This theoretical study deals with the issue of education and activation of seniors (geragogy) in the context of current demographic changes, which fundamentally transform the age structure of society. The aim of the thesis is to define the role of andragogy in the process of supporting the quality of life in the post-productive age based on a critical analysis and synthesis of professional literature. The text analyses in detail the bio-psychosocial determinants of aging and defines educational strategies that serve as the prevention of social exclusion and cognitive decline. Special attention is paid to the connection between physical activation and mental training and to the reflection of the phenomenon of ageism in institutional care. The study also discusses the legislative framework of social services in the Czech Republic and the ethical aspects of activation, including the senior’s right to autonomy. The conclusions confirm that conceptual geragogic intervention is an essential tool for fulfilling the concept of successful ageing and preserving human dignity.
